Dzuku Lolua

Dzuku Lolua (1877-1924)

Dzuku Lolua was born to be a songmaster. He created his own
epoch in the history of Georgian folk song. Although he lived only 47 years,
he spent 28 years establishing new choirs. His name is linked with the
creation of the first folk choirs composed of Megrelians and Abkhazians.
He was a true statesman and a versatile professional. Apart from being a
songmaster and teacher, he was also gifted with a talent for writing. He wrote
about music, art, folk traditions, Georgian history and ethnography, plays,
stories and poems.

This book is a revised and expanded edition of the monograph on
Dzuku Lolua published in 2003.
